Maydenhayes, Mornington, had an exciting day on Sunday the 17th of September, when TV3’s Showhouse Showdown came to film. Ireland’s newest Interiors show, hosted by well-known Design Celebrities – Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Neville Knott, drew a crowd of almost 300 people. Showhouse Showdown, sees two new builds and two interior designers, go head to head with the same budget. It will be broadcast on 10th October at 9pm TV3.
The Crowds
Over 300 people arrived to take part in the filming of Showhouse Showdown and were warmly greeted by Neville and Laurence. Crowds queued to view the stunning Maydenhayes homes, with their five star interiors. There was a great festival vibe during filming with face-painting, balloon modeling, refreshments and of course a big screen to watch the “All Ireland” match set up in the giant marquee on site.
Filming and the Celebs
Neville and Laurence happily posed for selfies and spoke to the crowds as people waited to see the transformed show houses. There was great tension and suspense following the voting which only added to the excitement. Our celebrities lapped it up joking with the crowds between takes.
Face Painting
Children were welcomed with a party bag and the opportunity to get their face painted. From fairies, rainbows, butterflies, children were transformed and happily went off to view the show houses with the adults.
The Clown
The very colourful Smarty Pants, the clown, entertained children whilst waiting to get their faces painted. There was no limit to what balloon shape Smarty Pants created, balloons in every shape and size.
Refreshments – the buns
The cupcakes were a popular choice for both adults and children, with many coming back for seconds! There was a continuous flow of tea, coffee, and sandwiches and hot food for the adults.
The designers
The hard work and passion of the interior designers received positive comments from the crowds of people who painstakingly filled out their comment cards.
The great Reveal
With the crowds gathered, designers nervous, presenters ready, cameras rolling, the winning designer of Showhouse Showdown at Maydenhayes was announced. And who was it? Well, you will have to wait until the TV show is broadcast to find out.
