Maydenhayes, Mornington, had an exciting day on Sunday the 17th of September, when TV3’s Showhouse Showdown came to film. Ireland’s newest Interiors show, hosted by well-known Design Celebrities – Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Neville Knott, drew a crowd of almost 300 people. Showhouse Showdown, sees two new builds and two interior designers, go head to head with the same budget. It will be broadcast on 10th October at 9pm TV3.

The Crowds

Over 300 people arrived to take part in the filming of Showhouse Showdown and were warmly greeted by Neville and Laurence. Crowds queued to view the stunning Maydenhayes homes, with their five star interiors. There was a great festival vibe during filming with face-painting, balloon modeling, refreshments and of course a big screen to watch the “All Ireland” match set up in the giant marquee on site.

Filming and the Celebs

Neville and Laurence happily posed for selfies and spoke to the crowds as people waited to see the transformed show houses. There was great tension and suspense following the voting which only added to the excitement. Our celebrities lapped it up joking with the crowds between takes.

Face Painting

Children were welcomed with a party bag and the opportunity to get their face painted. From fairies, rainbows, butterflies, children were transformed and happily went off to view the show houses with the adults.

The Clown

The very colourful Smarty Pants, the clown, entertained children whilst waiting to get their faces painted. There was no limit to what balloon shape Smarty Pants created, balloons in every shape and size.

Refreshments – the buns

The cupcakes were a popular choice for both adults and children, with many coming back for seconds! There was a continuous flow of tea, coffee, and sandwiches and hot food for the adults.

The designers

The hard work and passion of the interior designers received positive comments from the crowds of people who painstakingly filled out their comment cards.

The great Reveal

With the crowds gathered, designers nervous, presenters ready, cameras rolling, the winning designer of Showhouse Showdown at Maydenhayes was announced. And who was it? Well, you will have to wait until the TV show is broadcast to find out.

Maydenhayes are excited to announce that their three much admired fully fitted show houses with stunning kitchens, open plan living, walk in wardrobes and mature gardens will be going on the market this weekend 26th August 2017. The interiors of these fantastic show houses, which featured in the Inspiration section of “Irelands Homes Interiors and Living were designed by the exceptionally talented Nicki Cloonan and bears her hallmark of relaxed comfort and style. The show houses range from €299,500.00 to €348,000.00 in price.

On entering these tastefully decorated show homes, the mood is one where relaxed informality meets cool sophistication. The show house interiors are clearly inspired by the hues and textures of the local landscape and coastal scenery to include a palette of blues, greens and greys, drawing the outdoors inside. A most definite feel of home generates a strong lure to put the kettle on and take it all in, the initial impact of space with higher than standard ceilings adding character and light.

Social, home office and family space is readily available in the downstairs open plan living area, with a quality fitted kitchen, which can comfortably accommodate a large dining table as well as a reading/office/television or family relaxation area. With folding doors into the restful front room, these may be opened extending that area further or closed off when a quiet space is more desirable.

Everything is cleverly positioned and while a utility room and WC downstairs makes life easier, the piece de resistance upstairs off the master bedroom has to be the spacious fully fitted walk-in wardrobe and dressing room, adjacent to the master en-suite. It’s not just practical, it absolutely ticks the luxurious box too! Moving on, which is hard to do, show house visitors are inclined to linger in this space longer than others…the roomy main bathroom is fitted out with quality sanitary ware (and generous tiling as standard), and remaining bedrooms are spacious and carefully planned out with built in wardrobes also as standard.

There are currently more than 80 families happily enjoying their new homes in Maydenhayes. People are delighted with the location, the easy access to beaches, schools, shopping and other amenities.

A new phase for Maydenhayes will be launched in mid-September with four new Show houses currently under construction. Follow our blog for more Maydenhayes stories.
